Changelog

What each version changed: the English translation of the notes the app shows when it offers an update.

How to read a version number

Two numbers travel with each release, and they do not say the same thing.

NumberFormWhat it says
Version 2026.9.18

A date: the day the version was built. It is the number shown everywhere.

Build 2026.9.18.9

“Day · rank”. It increases with every release, without exception: two releases carrying the same number would make the second one invisible to copies already installed, which would never be offered the update.

The rank is not derived from today's date — a clock that goes backward or a change of time zone would be enough to hand out a number that has already shipped. It is computed from the highest number known, looked up in three independent sources, including the release tags of the repository.

Where update notices come from

The app offers the following versions by itself. To find out about them, it queries the publisher's update feed — and nothing else is sent there: no account, no measurement, no statistics. Together with opening the trial at first launch and activating a license, once per Mac, these are all the requests Quotum addresses to the publisher: three in total, described on the page What Quotum reads on your Mac.

The feed and the changelog say the same thing. The notes the app shows when it offers an update are the entries of the changelog, not a second draft that could drift apart. They are written in French, word for word as on the French changelog; the entries below are their English translation.

2026.10.2

Settings in seven sections, and what is spent beyond the quota, finally in sight.

  • Settings open on a sidebar with seven sections, like System Settings.
  • “Add an account…” offers the nine tools Quotum can track.
  • An account's details show its credits and paid spending; Quotum can warn you when spending starts, a limit is reached or a balance falls to zero.
  • When a used-up Codex account can be reopened by a reset, a ↺ sign shows it on its row, and a notification suggests it when the return is far off.
  • In “Icon + %” mode, the menu bar shows the most used account, or the one you pick under “Account shown”.
  • Once the license is activated, the right-click menu no longer offers “Enter My Key…”: a replacement key is entered in Settings, under License.
  • An account that has run dry for the week folds into a single line at the foot of its group, under “Recharging”, with a moon and the time it comes back.
  • The license key and the activation of this Mac fit in a single window, in two steps.
2026.9.26

Windows that fit on the screen, and a shorter first launch.

  • Settings, and every Quotum window, no longer extend past the screen: beyond that, their content scrolls.
  • The first launch stops at what Quotum found; the details of what it reads and writes stay one link away.
  • Buying a license or entering your key is possible from the first launch.
  • Update windows and system windows appear in your language, instead of always in English.
  • “Check for Updates…” in the right-click menu, to check without waiting.
2026.9.25

The initial public version of Quotum.

  • The quota left on your coding tools, account by account, in the menu bar: one line per window, with the age of each measurement.
  • Claude, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, Warp, Codebuff, Augment, opencode and Grok.
  • A fourteen-day trial, then a €4.99 license, activated once per Mac.

What this changelog will not do. Remove a version from this list after the fact, or rewrite what a version changed once it has shipped. An entry that turns out to be wrong is corrected by a later entry that says so, not by striking it out.
