Terms of sale
Terms of sale of Quotum (English translation)
This translation is provided for information. The contract is the French text at quotum.app/fr/cgv, which prevails.
Articles are numbered as in the French text. The two sentences you tick on the French order page are quoted in French, each followed by its meaning in English; those of the English order page are quoted as that page shows them.
Version of October 2, 2026. These terms apply to every order for Quotum placed on quotum.app whose order page has this version accepted. They replace the version of September 26, 2026: each order placed under that version remains governed by it; its full text is included in that order's confirmation email, and is sent to you on simple request to contact@quotum.app.
1. The seller
| Seller | Régis Jehl, sole proprietor (entrepreneur individuel, EI), under the trade name MASH MEDIA |
| SIREN | 485 249 189 |
| Address | 20 rue du Tabac, 67600 Ebersheim, France |
| Telephone | +33 6 52 02 92 03 |
| VAT | For a billing address outside the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man: VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code (code général des impôts) (article 5). |
In these terms, “we” means the seller, and “you” the person who buys.
2. What these terms govern
They govern the distance sale, on quotum.app, of a license to use the Quotum application, to consumers and to business buyers alike. What the license permits is set out in the license agreement (in French), which these terms supplement and do not contradict.
Before paying, you accept these terms and the license agreement by ticking a box provided for that purpose. The version that applies to your order is the one you accepted: the confirmation email reproduces it.
3. The product
Quotum is a menu bar application for macOS. It brings together the accounts of the quota-based coding tools installed on your Mac — Claude Code, Codex (ChatGPT account), Windsurf, Cursor, Warp, Codebuff, Augment, opencode and Grok —, launches the application or browser profile of the right account, and shows how much quota each one has left, with the age of each measurement.
- System requirements: macOS 26 or later, on an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac supported by macOS 26.
- Distribution: direct download from quotum.app, outside the Mac App Store. The application is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
- No account to create with us, whether to try, to buy or to use.
- Connection: quota measurements require an Internet connection, to the tools you have yourself chosen to track in the application. Activating the license also requires one, to licences.quotum.app, once per Mac.
An essential characteristic, to know before buying. To display a quota, Quotum reads the credentials that each provider's tool has placed on your Mac, and uses them to query that provider's quota interface. None of the nine provides for this use, which may breach their terms of use; if the risk materializes, it falls on your accounts with them, up to and including suspension of your account. Each tool is chosen separately, and none is tracked on installation. The details are on the Pricing page and in the Third-party provider accounts clause.
Another essential characteristic: activation, once per Mac. The license is activated once on each Mac, through a connection to licences.quotum.app at the moment you request it; after that, it is verified on that Mac, offline. Three new Macs at most per period of 365 rolling days, more on a reasoned request. Activation uses the Mac's security chip; on a machine that has none — a virtual machine, in practice —, a software key takes its place. A key whose purchase is refunded stops working in the versions of the application published afterwards.
These are technical protection measures, announced here before any payment (articles L. 111-1 and R. 111-1, 6°, of the French Consumer Code, the code de la consommation). They are detailed in article 8 and in article 10.
4. Trying before you buy
The application can be downloaded and tried free of charge, without any payment or contact details to give. The trial is not a contract of sale: it commits you to nothing, and it turns into a purchase only if you buy.
- How it opens: on first launch, the application sends a request to our license service, licences.quotum.app/essai, which has it verified by DeviceCheck, an Apple service. A connection is therefore needed to open the trial; without one, the request goes out again by itself, and no measurement is taken in the meantime. The trial opens only once per Mac: Apple keeps, for each Mac, the mark of a trial already served, which survives erasing the Mac. A second-hand Mac whose previous owner has already tried the application therefore has no trial left. In a virtual machine, where DeviceCheck does not exist, the trial is not available. What is sent and what is kept is described in article 14.
- How long it lasts: fourteen days of elapsed time since the application's first launch, by your Mac's clock, even if the trial opened later. Setting the clock back gives nothing back, setting it forward uses some up, and a start date more than one day in the future ends the trial. Erasing the application's preferences, or uninstalling and then reinstalling it, does not restart the trial: its start date is also kept in the Keychain of your user session, in an item named “Quotum — trial”, and the mark that Apple keeps for this Mac prevents a second trial even when that item is deleted.
- What it covers: the first two lines of the panel, in the order you have chosen in the settings. The others remain visible but locked: no measurement is taken for them, no notification concerns them, no reset is applied to them.
- When it ends: the panel gives way to a view that offers to buy or to enter a key. No further measurement is taken. The settings and the configured accounts are kept, and updates continue to be offered.
5. The price
€4.99, paid once, the same whatever your country. There is no subscription, no renewal, no delivery charge and no payment fee charged to you. The price that applies is the one displayed at the time of the order.
- Billing address outside the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man: €4.99, all taxes included, VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code.
- Billing address in the United Kingdom or the Isle of Man: €4.99, with no amount added. The French VAT exemption for small businesses, the subject of the previous point, is not applied to you.
6. The order
- From the Pricing page, you reach the order page, served by licences.quotum.app: in French, licences.quotum.app/acheter; in English, licences.quotum.app/buy.
- This page asks you for three agreements, through three separate boxes, none of them ticked in advance: the two agreements of article 9.2, which concern the immediate delivery of the key, then the acceptance of these terms and of the license agreement. The English page has the same three boxes, written in English; its third states that the French text of these terms prevails over their English translation, and that the license agreement is written in French.
- You are then taken to Stripe's payment page, which summarizes the item, its total price and the email address to which the key will be sent. You can correct your entries there, or abandon without owing anything.
- The contract is concluded when Stripe accepts your payment. The key is delivered to you immediately (article 8).
Without the two agreements of article 9.2, the order cannot be placed: the key is only sold for immediate delivery. The trial of article 4, for its part, remains open without any agreement.
7. Payment
Payment is collected by Stripe, by bank card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link. It is debited at the time of the order. Your card details are entered at Stripe: we never receive the full card number.
Stripe sends you a receipt by email. An invoice is provided to you on simple request to contact@quotum.app. Whatever the billing address, it bears the statement “TVA non applicable, article 293 B du code général des impôts, pour les acheteurs hors Royaume-Uni et île de Man” (VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code, for buyers outside the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man).
8. Delivery of the license
The license takes the form of a key, a string of characters beginning with QUOTUM-. It is delivered to you in two ways, as soon as payment is accepted:
- on screen, on the licences.quotum.app page to which Stripe sends you back. This page shows the key for twenty-four hours, then refers you to the email;
- by a confirmation email, which constitutes the confirmation of the contract on a durable medium. It contains the key, the order summary, the confirmation of the two agreements of article 9.2 with the date and time at which you gave them and the link to the online withdrawal function; it attaches, as PDF files, the full text of these terms and of the license agreement in the versions you accepted, and the model withdrawal form reproduced in the annex.
The application itself is not “delivered”: it can be downloaded freely from quotum.app, and the same file serves for the trial and for purchased use. The key is entered in the application, from the menu of its icon.
- Activated once per Mac. Once the key is entered, the application offers to activate this Mac. It then sends to licences.quotum.app the key, the public half of a key created for the occasion by this Mac's security chip, and a signature, then receives an activation certificate. From then on, the key and this certificate are verified on your Mac, offline: the application works with no time limit, without asking anything further of our services. If the service does not respond, the same request goes out again by itself one minute later, then at doubling intervals, six hours at most, for seven days at most after you choose “Activate This Mac”; after that, nothing more goes out without a new action on your part. If a connection is impossible when you activate, write to contact@quotum.app from the purchase address, with the request code that the application displays: an activation code is sent back to you, within the same cap.
- On the computers you use, as the license provides: three new Macs at most per period of 365 rolling days. A Mac already activated is reactivated without counting during the 400 days its activation is kept; beyond that, reactivating it counts as one activation, as does erasing the application's preferences, erasing the Mac or changing Macs. Beyond the cap, an activation is granted on a reasoned request (change of hardware, repair, theft), sent to contact@quotum.app from the purchase address.
- A key that has circulated is replaced free of charge: the new one goes to the purchase address, with the reason for the replacement; the old one no longer activates any new Mac, and your Macs already activated keep working.
- If we ceased trading, Macs already activated would keep working. To activate the others, we would publish a release token, which makes the key alone sufficient on any Mac. As for this token, we are the only ones who hold it: this promise assumes that we are still able to publish it.
- No expiry. The license is perpetual; only a refund or a lost payment dispute ends it (article 10).
- Lost key: it is in the confirmation email. Failing that, write to contact@quotum.app from the address used for the purchase: it will be sent back to you at that address.
9. The right of withdrawal
9.1 The principle
As a consumer, you have a right of withdrawal of fourteen days, without having to give any reason. For the supply of digital content not on a tangible medium, this period runs from the conclusion of the contract (articles L. 221-18 and L. 221-4 of the Consumer Code).
9.2 Its loss, on immediate delivery of the key
The key is delivered to you as soon as you pay, and therefore before the end of that period. The law provides that the right of withdrawal can then no longer be exercised, subject to three cumulative conditions (article L. 221-28, 13°, of the Consumer Code): you have expressly consented to performance beginning before the end of the period; you have acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal; and we have confirmed these two agreements to you on a durable medium (article L. 221-13).
These two agreements are collected on the order page, before payment, through two separate boxes, not ticked in advance, kept apart from the acceptance of these terms. Each order page writes them in its own language, under a version number recorded with your order. Their exact texts on the French page, licences.quotum.app/acheter (version 2026-09-23.1), each followed by its meaning in English:
-
« Je demande à recevoir ma clé de licence immédiatement, avant la fin du délai de rétractation de quatorze jours. »
Meaning: “I request to receive my license key immediately, before the end of the fourteen-day withdrawal period.”
-
« Je reconnais qu'en recevant ma clé, je perds mon droit de rétractation. La garantie commerciale de remboursement de trente jours reste acquise. »
Meaning: “I acknowledge that by receiving my key, I lose my right of withdrawal. The thirty-day commercial refund guarantee still applies.”
On the English page, licences.quotum.app/buy (version 2026-09-30.en.1), the two boxes carry these same agreements, written in English. Their exact text is reproduced in article 9.2 of the English translation of these terms, which is this page, and in the confirmation email of a purchase made on that page:
- “I request to receive my license key immediately, before the end of the fourteen-day withdrawal period.”
- “I acknowledge that by receiving my key, I lose my right of withdrawal. The thirty-day commercial refund guarantee still applies.”
The confirmation email reproduces the two sentences you ticked, in the language of the order page, with the date and time at which you ticked them. Once the key has been delivered under these conditions, the legal right of withdrawal can no longer be exercised.
This loss concerns only the legal right of withdrawal. It affects neither the commercial refund guarantee (article 10) nor the legal guarantees (article 11).
9.3 When the right survives
Should any one of the three conditions of article 9.2 be missing — for example, if the confirmation email had not reached you —, your right of withdrawal continues to apply during the fourteen-day period, and you then owe us nothing for the license supplied (article L. 221-26 of the Consumer Code).
9.4 How to exercise it: the “Withdraw from contract here” function
An online withdrawal function, free of charge, is available to you under the link Withdraw from contract here — “Renoncer au contrat ici” on the French pages —, present at the foot of every page of this site and in the confirmation email (article L. 221-21 and article D. 221-5 of the Consumer Code). It asks you for:
- your first and last name;
- what identifies your order: the email address used for the purchase and, if you have it, the purchase reference;
- the email address at which to receive the acknowledgment of receipt.
You send it with a “Confirm withdrawal” button — “Confirmer la rétractation” on the French page. We send you without delay, by email, an acknowledgment of receipt that reproduces the content of your statement, together with the date and time it was sent.
You may also send us any unambiguous statement, by email to contact@quotum.app or by post to the address in article 1, using, if you wish, the model form reproduced in the annex.
The refund is made without undue delay and at the latest fourteen days after we were informed of your decision, using the same means of payment as for the purchase, at no cost to you (article L. 221-24 of the Consumer Code).
The same function stays open for thirty days after the purchase, beyond the legal period alone: it also receives refund requests under the commercial guarantee of article 10. You therefore do not need to know which of the two regimes applies to your case — a request sent within the thirty days is refunded.
10. Commercial guarantee contract: refund for thirty days
Independently of the right of withdrawal, and even when that right has been lost under the conditions of article 9.2, we refund the purchase on simple request within thirty days of it. This guarantee is a contractual commitment, distinct from the legal right of withdrawal: waiving the latter does not affect it.
| What it covers | A full refund of the price paid, without any reason to give and without any condition relating to how the application works. |
| How to use it | Through the Withdraw from contract here function, or by email to contact@quotum.app stating the email address used for the purchase. The refund is made at the latest fourteen days after the request, by the same means of payment, at no cost. |
| Price | Free: it is included in the price of the license. |
| Duration | Thirty days from the purchase. |
| Territorial scope | No limit: it applies whatever the buyer's country. |
| Exclusions | None. |
| Guarantor | Régis Jehl, sole proprietor, MASH MEDIA — 20 rue du Tabac, 67600 Ebersheim, France — +33 6 52 02 92 03 — contact@quotum.app |
What it adds to the legal guarantee of conformity. The legal guarantee requires a lack of conformity, and first gives a right to have the product brought into conformity. This one, during its thirty days, refunds without any defect having to be established, for the sole reason that you ask for it. Beyond those thirty days, it adds nothing, and the legal guarantee continues to run on its own.
This commercial guarantee applies without prejudice to the consumer's right to benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity, and from the guarantee relating to hidden defects, under the conditions set out in articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code (article L. 217-22 of the Consumer Code, applicable to digital content by article L. 224-25-27). The box in article 11 describes these two legal guarantees.
A refund, under this guarantee as under the right of withdrawal, ends the license: the key no longer activates any Mac, and the versions of the application published after the refund reject it, including on Macs already activated. A payment dispute suspends the activation of new Macs until it is closed; if lost, it ends the license like a refund. A withdrawal that has only been declared, as long as it has not been refunded, suspends nothing.
11. The legal guarantees
The seller, identified in article 1, is bound by the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content (articles L. 224-25-12 et seq. of the Consumer Code) and by the guarantee against hidden defects. Claims are addressed to the contact details in article 1. The box that follows is the one that the regulations require (annex to article D. 211-3 of the Consumer Code). The French text reproduces it without modification; what follows is its English translation, for information.
The consumer has a period of two years from the supply of the digital content or digital service to obtain the implementation of the legal guarantee of conformity if a lack of conformity appears. During a period of one year from the date of supply, the consumer need only establish the existence of the lack of conformity and not the date on which it appeared.
The legal guarantee of conformity entails an obligation to supply all the updates necessary to maintain the conformity of the digital content or digital service.
The legal guarantee of conformity gives the consumer the right to have the digital content or digital service brought into conformity without undue delay following their request, free of charge and without major inconvenience to them.
The consumer may obtain a price reduction while keeping the digital content or digital service, or may terminate the contract and obtain a full refund in exchange for giving up the digital content or digital service, if:
1° The professional refuses to bring the digital content or digital service into conformity;
2° Bringing the digital content or digital service into conformity is unjustifiably delayed;
3° Bringing the digital content or digital service into conformity cannot be done without costs imposed on the consumer;
4° Bringing the digital content or digital service into conformity causes major inconvenience for the consumer;
5° The lack of conformity of the digital content or digital service persists despite the professional's unsuccessful attempt to bring it into conformity.
The consumer is also entitled to a price reduction or to termination of the contract when the lack of conformity is so serious that it justifies an immediate price reduction or termination of the contract. The consumer is then not required to request beforehand that the digital content or digital service be brought into conformity.
Where the lack of conformity is minor, the consumer is entitled to cancellation of the contract only if the contract does not provide for the payment of a price.
Any period during which the digital content or digital service is unavailable for the purpose of bringing it back into conformity suspends the guarantee that remained to run until the digital content or digital service is supplied again in conformity.
The rights mentioned above result from the application of articles L. 224-25-1 to L. 224-25-31 of the Consumer Code.
A professional who in bad faith obstructs the implementation of the legal guarantee of conformity incurs a civil fine of a maximum amount of 300,000 euros, which may be increased to as much as 10% of the average annual turnover (article L. 242-18-1 of the Consumer Code).
The consumer also benefits from the legal guarantee against hidden defects under articles 1641 to 1649 of the Civil Code, for a period of two years from the discovery of the defect. This guarantee gives the right to a price reduction if the digital content or digital service is kept, or to a full refund in exchange for giving up the digital content or digital service.
12. What depends on third-party providers
Quota measurements come from interfaces that their providers change without notice. Such a change may interrupt or distort a measurement until an update of the application adapts to it; this is why the application shows the age of each measurement. This observation in no way limits the legal guarantees of article 11, and our liability remains subject to the applicable legal rules.
The information given in article 3 on the providers' terms of use lets you buy with full knowledge of the facts. It does not transfer our liability to you, does not authorize this use with the providers, and exempts no one from anything.
13. Updates
The application offers its updates by itself. Those of the major version you bought are supplied at no extra charge, including those that maintain its conformity. A later major version, if one ever exists, may be a separate paid product: what you bought remains yours, and keeps working.
14. Personal data
The data processed for opening the trial, the order, payment, delivery of the key, activation of each Mac and withdrawal, the service providers that process them, how long they are kept and your rights are described in the Privacy document.
Activating a Mac records with us the license identifier, the fingerprint of the public key created by that Mac's chip and the date, kept for 400 days; your IP address is used to route the request, and is not kept. This record is based on our legitimate interest in enforcing a license intended for its holder.
Opening the trial transmits to Apple, through our license service, a token that Apple itself issued to this Mac; Apple keeps for this Mac the mark of a trial already served, which we do not erase. Our service keeps the fingerprint of a code drawn at random on this Mac, with the date of the first request and that of the mark, for thirty days; your IP address is not kept. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in offering the trial only once per Mac.
15. Complaints
Complaints are addressed to contact@quotum.app, by telephone to +33 6 52 02 92 03, or by post to the address in article 1. We answer them in French.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection afforded to you by the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you habitually reside.
In the event of a dispute, the consumer may bring the matter, at their choice, before one of the courts having territorial jurisdiction under the French Code of Civil Procedure, or before the court of the place where they lived at the time the contract was concluded or the harmful event occurred (article R. 631-3 of the Consumer Code).
These terms are written in French, the language of the contract. An English translation, this page, is published for information: in case of any difference, the French text prevails.
Annex — Model withdrawal form
Regulatory model (annex to article R. 221-1 of the Consumer Code), pre-filled with our details. The confirmation email attaches it as a PDF: in French for an order placed on the French order page; for an order placed on the English order page, in the wording below, that of the English model in Directive 2011/83/EU. The Withdraw from contract here function serves the same purpose, with nothing to print.
