What your purchase includes
- The right to install and use Quotum with no time limit, on the computers you use.
- Use for both personal and professional purposes, including paid work.
- A license intended for its holder: it is meant for their own use. Any transfer takes place under the conditions set by applicable law, in particular the mandatory rules on the exhaustion of the distribution right. An organization that equips several people buys as many licenses as people equipped.
- Activation once per Mac, through a connection, when you ask for it; after that, the license works offline, with no time limit. At most three new Macs per 365 rolling days, more on a justified request.
The binding text is the license, written in French and summarized in English on the legal notice page. The sale itself is governed by the terms of sale.
Try before you pay
Quotum can be downloaded and tried for free, with no payment and no contact details to give. The trial lasts fourteen days from the first launch, and covers the first two lines of the panel, in the order chosen in Settings. The other lines remain visible but locked: nothing is measured for them.
When those fourteen days of elapsed time are over, the panel offers to buy a license or to enter a key. Your settings are kept, and a purchase gives you back the app exactly as you left it. Deleting Quotum's preferences or reinstalling it does not restart the trial: its start date is also kept in your Keychain.
A connection is required at first launch. The trial opens once per Mac, after a check through DeviceCheck, an Apple service that keeps, for each Mac, a mark showing that a trial has already been used. A second-hand Mac whose previous owner already tried Quotum therefore has no trial left, and a virtual machine has none: a purchase remains refundable on simple request within thirty days. The details are in article 4 of the terms of sale, and what is sent, in the privacy policy.
What it takes to run
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Price | €4.99, one-time purchase. For a billing address outside the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man, this price includes all taxes, VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code; in the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man, it is the same, with no amount added. |
| System requirements | macOS 26 or later. The app ships as a universal binary: it runs just as well on an Apple Silicon Mac as on the Intel Macs that macOS 26 still supports. |
| Distribution | Outside the Mac App Store, as a direct download. The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. |
| Third-party code | No source dependencies. The Sparkle update component is redistributed in binary form, and its notice accompanies the downloaded file. |
Read this before you buy
The license is activated once on each Mac. After entering your key, you choose “Activate This Mac”: Quotum sends one request, to licences.quotum.app — your key, the public half of a key that this Mac's security chip creates for the occasion, and a signature proving that the request comes from this Mac — and from then on the license is verified on this Mac, offline, with no time limit. At most three new Macs per 365 rolling days; beyond that, an activation is granted on a justified request. If no connection is possible when you activate, a code sent by email takes its place.
A refunded key stops working. After a refund, or a payment dispute that we lose, the key no longer activates any Mac, and versions of the app published afterwards reject it. A key that has leaked is replaced free of charge.
These are technical protection measures, which French law requires to be disclosed before payment (articles L. 111-1 and R. 111-1 of the French Consumer Code). The details are in article 3 and article 8 of the terms of sale, and what activation sends is described in the privacy policy.
Quotum reads the credentials that other tools have stored on your Mac. To display a quota, it reads the token stored by each provider's tool — in the Keychain or in a file — and uses it to query that provider's quota interface. This applies to all nine: Claude, Codex (ChatGPT account), Windsurf, Cursor, Warp, Codebuff, Augment, opencode and Grok.
None of these nine providers intends this use. These interfaces belong to their own apps; reading them from a third-party tool is not a documented use, and may breach the terms of use of one or more of them. We cannot promise you any compliance on this point, and we make no such promise.
If the risk materializes, it falls on your accounts with these providers — a warning, restricted access, or the suspension of your account, with everything that goes with it: the subscription you pay for, the history it holds, and the tool you work with. This is not a theoretical risk that we would brush aside with a turn of phrase; it is the one you take by installing the app, and the reason it is written here rather than at the bottom of the page.
None of this happens until you track the tool. Each tool is chosen separately, and none is tracked at installation: no token is read and no request goes to a provider. A screen tells you so before the first measurement, the choice can be changed at any time in Settings, and Quotum stays useful without it — it opens the app of the right account, opens its browser profile, pins your terminal, and shows what the files already on your Mac say about your usage.
What is read even when no tool is tracked. Six sources that hold no provider token are read at every measurement, whether tools are tracked or not, and the technical page names them all. Two of them are worth knowing about before you buy: the usage history that Claude Code writes itself, and the end of the Codex CLI session logs — the transcripts of your sessions, opened to look for a percentage, and nothing from them leaves your Mac. Checking for updates does not depend on this choice either: it queries the publisher's server, and nothing else is sent there. Two more requests go to the publisher, once per Mac: at first launch, the trial check described under “Try before you pay”; after purchase, the activation of your license, described just above.
What this page does, and what it does not. It informs you, so that you buy with full knowledge of the facts. It does not shift the seller's liability onto you, it does not authorize this use with the providers, and it releases no one from anything.
What is read, what is queried and how often, in detail: What Quotum reads on your Mac.
Payment goes through Stripe — card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link. The license key appears as soon as the payment is accepted, and is then sent to you by email. The three boxes you tick before paying are listed below.
From the command line
Homebrew installs the same app, which then keeps itself up to date.
Changing your mind
Two separate arrangements, which should not be confused. The first is lost when the key is delivered; the second is not.
The legal right of withdrawal — fourteen days
As a consumer, you have a legal right of withdrawal of fourteen days from the purchase. But the key is delivered to you as soon as you pay, before that period ends, and the law provides that the right can then no longer be exercised. That is why the order page asks you, before you pay, for two agreements, through two separate boxes that are not ticked in advance: that the key be delivered to you immediately, and that you acknowledge that you thereby lose this right. The confirmation email repeats these two agreements, with their date and time. Without them, the order cannot be placed.
The cases where this right survives nonetheless are set out in article 9 of the terms of sale.
What you agree to at checkout
In all, the order page shows three boxes, none of them ticked in advance, and you can only go on to payment once all three are ticked:
- you ask to receive your license key immediately, before the fourteen-day withdrawal period ends;
- you acknowledge that receiving your key ends your right of withdrawal, while the thirty-day commercial refund still applies;
- you accept the terms of sale and the license, in the version shown on the order page.
The commercial refund — thirty days
Losing that right does not affect our own commitment: we refund on simple request within thirty days of purchase. No justification to provide, no need to say why, and even after waiving the legal right of withdrawal: the second box says so.
The request is made online, through the Withdraw from contract here link at the foot of every page, or by email to contact@quotum.app.
Guarantees
The legal guarantees owed to consumers — conformity, hidden defects — remain fully in force. Nothing on this site or in the license excludes them. They are described in article 11 of the terms of sale.
The quota interfaces of the nine providers change without notice: a measurement may stop, or be wrong, until an update of the app adapts to the change. That is also why the app writes the age of every figure, rather than letting you believe it is fresh.
