Menu bar app for macOS
A Claude usage tracker that shows every account
You launch a long job in Claude Code and it stops halfway: You've hit your session
limit
. Or you have two Max accounts and no idea which one still has room this week. Quotum
shows the five-hour and weekly windows of each of your Claude accounts in the Mac menu bar,
with the time each one resets and how long ago it was measured.
Free trial for fourteen days, on the first two lines of the panel. Launch price: €4.99, then €9.99. macOS 26 or later.
The five-hour session and the week, on separate lines
Anthropic counts your Claude usage in two windows: a five-hour session and a weekly limit. They are two different limits, so Quotum gives them two lines. A week at 91% no longer hides behind a session at 7%.
Each line has a ten-box gauge whose filled boxes show what is left, the share used, and the time the window resets — the time alone within the day, the day up to six days ahead. The gauge turns amber below half, ember red at the last box.
When an account's week is used up, its five-hour window still looks full, yet the account cannot work. Quotum folds it into one line at the foot of its group, under “Recharging”, with a moon and the time it comes back; in the last hour, the moon becomes a sunrise.
Every account, not just the signed-in one
claude.ai and Claude Code show the account you are signed in to. Quotum lists your Claude accounts side by side, each with its number: with the panel open, ⌘1 to ⌘9 unfold the first nine. Groups can be renamed, recolored, reordered or hidden.
- The account Claude Code is signed in to is measured on request, from Anthropic's usage interface, with the sign-in Claude Code keeps in your Keychain.
- Other Claude accounts show a figure whenever one is available — for example the one their last request received through a local proxy — with its age.
- An account with nothing measured says “No measurement yet” and shows no gauge: an empty gauge would announce an account that has run dry.
How old is this number?
Not every figure is fresh, and Quotum does not pretend otherwise. To the right of each account's name, it writes when it was measured — “measured just now”, “measured 3 h ago” — and past one hour, in a heavier weight, because that is the figure most likely to have changed. Measurements run every five minutes by default; one or fifteen minutes in Settings.
Then open the right account
Once you know which account has room, Quotum takes you there. Open a Claude account to switch to its own copy of the desktop app, open claude.ai in its Chrome profile, or pin your terminal to it so that Claude Code runs on that account and picks up your last conversation. How it keeps several accounts apart: multiple accounts on one Mac.
Where the figures come from
Quotum reads the sign-in that Claude Code already keeps on your Mac, and only once you choose to track Claude: nothing is tracked at installation. It asks for no API key and no browser cookie. A few local sources are read whether tools are tracked or not, among them the usage history that Claude Code writes itself and the end of the Codex CLI session logs, which are the transcripts of your sessions. Every file, address and schedule is listed on What Quotum reads on your Mac.
Read this before you buy. Anthropic does not provide for a third-party app reading Claude's quota with Claude Code's sign-in. The risk falls on your account, up to its suspension, and it is set out in full on the pricing page.
Compared with other Claude usage trackers
Several menu bar apps measure Claude well, and some are free and open source, cover far more tools, or switch the active account for you. Quotum's difference is acting on the account you have just measured, and saying how old each figure is. The side-by-side comparison sets out both sides with sources, and Quotum vs CodexBar answers the most common question. To check your usage without any app, see how to check your Claude usage.
FAQ
Is there a way to monitor Claude usage from the Mac menu bar?
Yes. Quotum is a macOS menu bar app that shows the remaining usage of Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other AI coding tools, for several accounts, with the age of each measurement.
Does it show Claude Code usage or claude.ai usage?
Both, since they are the same budget: Anthropic counts claude.ai, Claude Code and Claude Desktop towards the same limits. Quotum shows the five-hour and weekly windows of that shared budget.
Is it real time?
No, and it says so. Quotum measures every five minutes by default, and some figures come from an account's last request. Each account shows how long ago it was measured.
Does it need an API key or browser cookies?
No. It reads the sign-in Claude Code already keeps in your Keychain, and only once you choose to track Claude.
Can it switch the account Claude Code uses?
Not the account Claude Code is signed in to: Quotum writes none of its credentials. It pins your terminal to an account instead, and opens that account's own copy of the desktop app.
How much does it cost?
€4.99, once, at the launch price, then €9.99; every account is included. You can try it free for fourteen days on the first two lines of the panel.
